How Wireless Headphones Are really a Nightmare on Nintendo Switch

As a switch owner, I have two thoughts when it comes to the chaotic situation that Nintendo has created for wireless headsets.

The company has added wireless headphone support, but only via USB adapter, to the switch in an October 2017 firmware update.

Also, Nintendo has never included the feature in this release note for just that feature. And not all headsets with USB adapters work with the switch so you can not buy a pair without a little scrutiny.
Personally, I prefer wired headphones because of its simplicity.

But even with a wired headset, it is still a pretty confusing situation for switch fans who want to connect wirelessly.

Let's start with the simplest solution: the Logitech H800, which currently costs about $ 60 on Amazon. We tested this headset in our office and found that its USB receiver is compatible with the switch and that its Bluetooth transmitter works with my iPhone 8 Plus.

It also has a decent reach because it was about 20 feet from the switch with no problems. The only big drawback is that the build quality is low, with foam pads and hinges that seem a bit cheap.

If you already have a Bluetooth headset that you like or do not have $ 60, look at the $ 30 Trond 2-in-1 Bluetooth audio adapter that sends audio from the headphone jack on the switch to Bluetooth headphones.
However, you still need to recharge the adapter.

At the end of the day, regardless of what you choose, Nintendo has created a wireless audio quagmire with the switch.
How did the company anticipate people would like to use Bluetooth headsets in their handhelds? Limiting the wireless audio signal to the USB port on its base is incredibly short-sighted.

And unfortunately, the only solution that will be easy for everyone will come when Nintendo will release a pair of official wireless headphones for the switch, which also has Bluetooth (or at least if the company is working with a headphone maker, a legal pair).

They are needed because the headphone technology has advanced so much that you do not need multiple types of wireless headphones.
