Lenovo ThinkPad L380 Yoga Review
With its versatile 2-in-1 design and 8th-generation performance, the Lenovo ThinkPad L380 Yoga is a professional 13-inch notebook that lets you make both real and figurative copies. It could probably survive a real setback as it has a durable MIL-STD 810G chassis. The L380 Yoga ($ 1,011 as a proven, $ 739 boot) also has powerful speakers and an excellent keyboard. We want the screen to get brighter and the touchpad bigger, but in general it's a solid 2-in-1 activity.
Design
The sexy ThinkPad Yoga 2-in-1 Body is folded so you do not have to. The exterior is held on the aluminum cover in an elegant dark silver finish, accompanied by a steel ThinkPad logo that sticks out from the upper left corner.
When I opened it, I was greeted by the pretty ThinkPad Island keyboard with its unique red pointer device. The inner frame felt a bit smoother than the outside because it is made of glass fiber reinforced plastic. It also has a ThinkPad metal logo in the lower right corner.
The pictures on the screen are a bit thick, especially for a 2 in 1. There is a webcam just above the screen, with selection parameters that include a world-oriented camera just at the over the keyboard.
Changing ThinkPad Yoga in tablet mode is natural. However, the stylus is annoying if you already extract in tablet mode because of its thin grip. The power button is accessible in tablet mode, but there is no volume control on the side.
At 3.5 pounds and 12.7 x 8.8 x 0.7 inches, the ThinkPad Yoga is the heaviest 2-in-1 among its competitors. The HP Specter x360 is the lightest and thinnest at 2.9 pounds, 0.5 inches, and the Lenovo ThinkPad X380 Yoga lands at 3 pounds, 0.7 inches.
ThinkPad Yoga has a decent selection of ports. On the left side there are two USB Type C ports, one USB 3.1 port with always active charging and one HDMI 1.4 port. On the right side you will find a secure lock slot, a mini RJ45 connector, a USB 3.1 connector, a microSD card reader, a combined headphone / microphone connector, an external power switch and the pin connector.
Safety and sustainability
The ThinkPad Yoga fiberglass reinforced plastic design passes 12 military MIL-STD 810G certification tests. This means that it can withstand humidity and extreme temperatures, vibration, high altitude, sand and dust, sunshine, fungi and mechanical shocks. On the security side, the ThinkPad Yoga can be equipped with Intel vPro for remote administration.
Monitor
13.3-inch backlit LED display and 1920 x 1080 L380 offers lots of details and bright colors, but the panel looked so dark that I felt like I had to squint while watching the progress of the catcher was the spy.
As Paul Rudd turned his face away from the camera, I noticed how sharp each pixel was, from the seam on his tie to imperfections hidden under his makeup. Although the cinematography is dark, the color explodes when a green military car leads to an active battlefield. Every layer of earth, military barricades and worn-out buildings in the background created a photorealistic image of different colors. However, the corners of the screen remained dark during the night scenes because the screen was too dark to properly illuminate the environment.
Keyboard, touchpad, pointer and pen
With a soft palm rest and shield-like buttons, the ThinkPad L380 Yoga is a sheer delight when typing. However, I will always have a complaint with the function key that is in front of the control key.
Audio
The ThinkPad L380 Yoga speakers are directly vicious. Listening to ONE OK ROCK's "Heartache," the speakers delivered a sound worthy of a concert in a large conference room. I physically felt that each acoustic guitar chord was intertwined with Taka's melodic voices, and every note played from the highest to the lowest was perfectly captured throughout the song. Even when the xylophone and drums were on, all the instruments on the track were completely different.
Lenovo's excellent sound is enhanced by the built-in Dolby Notebook software, which automatically improves the sound, but also includes several sound profiles such as Dynamic, Movie, Music, Games and Voice.
Act
The ThinkPad L380 Yoga can handle more than 30 Google Chrome tabs, a 1080p YouTube video and some creative sketches simultaneously. This robust cover includes a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-8250U processor, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and an Intel UHD 620 graphics card for all the above tasks.
In the Geekbench 4 overall performance test, the ThinkPad Yoga reached 9,766, which is just below the average of 10,752 high-quality notebooks. The X380 Yoga (i5-8250U) and the Specter x360 (i7-8550U) achieved the highest score of 10,828 and 13,568, respectively.
The ThinkPad L380 Yoga has maintained its basis in our Excel test and takes 1 minute and 28 seconds to link 65,000 names and addresses. This beati is the average of 1:35 and the Specter x360 is 1:36. The X360 Yoga was faster in a second, at 1:27.
Battery life
The ThinkPad L380 Yoga will help you get the most out of your workday, as it took 8 hours and 30 minutes of surfing the Internet with 150 nits of brightness over Wi-Fi. It has surpassed the top of the notebook by far my 8:21, as well as 8:09 by Yoga X380 and 8:00 by Specter x360.
webcam
Most of the photos I inserted into the ThinkPad L380 Yoga Webcam were incredibly boring. When I managed to hold the beard of my face and the strands of hair on my head, the color and brightness of my checkered shirt went off. I could not see the yellow or green on my shirt; instead, the different colors were mixed into blue and red pieces. The webcam managed to capture photos from the ceiling without being dragged by the lights. However, when she was pressed against the office window, she could only cross half of the buildings before she was flooded with light.
Heat
ThinkPad Yoga can get a bit hot, but not overwhelming. After the laptop sent a 15-minute HD video, the background reached 101 degrees Fahrenheit, slightly above our 95-degree comfort threshold. The touchscreen and center of the keyboard touch 81 and 93 degrees, respectively.
Software and warranty
The L380 is lightweight in the Lenovo brand software, but the Lenovo Vantage app is still there to help you manage system updates, warranty, hardware configuration and cybersecurity. The Vantage Toolbar gives you access to Dolby audio, camera, microphone and Wi-Fi security, and the Wacom Pen app, which lets you customize the clickers in the pen. ,
Configurations
The reviewed ThinkPad L380 Yoga costs $ 1,011 and is equipped with an Intel Core i5-8250U processor from Windows 10 Pro 1.6GHz, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, a 620 graphics card and Intel UHD.
The base model costs $ 739 and brings you to an Intel Core i3-8130U 2.2GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD and Windows 10 Home.
Bottom line
The ThinkPad L380 Yoga with the 8-generation processor, 8-hour battery, and military design offers productivity, durability, and longevity. The typing experience and the speakers are also first class.
Its screen, however, is hampered by thick bevels and lack of brightness. We also want a larger touchscreen, though stick fans do not care.
If you can increase your budget, the HP Specter x360 ($ 1,259) is a brighter, thinner, 2-in-1 device that offers a brighter screen with thin bevels, faster overall performance, and the HP SureView privacy screen. But the Lenovo system offers longer battery life and a better keyboard.
Despite some shortcomings, the ThinkPad L380 Yoga is a professional 2-in-1 notebook for that price due to its consistent performance, comfortable keyboard, and customizable touch pen.
